At the everyday level, what we could term relative reality, we would need to search hard to find comfortable compatibility between Classical Chinese Thought and Christianity. We will be looking here, though, at the remarkable companionship that actually does exist. This we will find is not with the relative dualistic thought of everyday habitual experience, but in the non-dual perception of reality which we might regard as ultimate reality. It is on this ground that Meister Eckhart is compatible with Chinese thought; in this case Buddhism and, mainly, Confucianism.
