Jon M. Sweeney is the author of forty books including The Complete Francis of Assisi and Feed the Wolf, a work of Franciscan spirituality. With Mark S. Burrows, he cowrote Meister Eckhart’s Book of the Heart and Meister Eckhart’s Book of Secrets; they have a third collection of Eckhart poem-meditations publishing in 2023. Jon is a Roman Catholic, and is married to a congregational rabbi; together they codirect The Lux Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology in Wisconsin. Jon frequently leads retreats and speaks at literary conferences. He has worked in spirituality book publishing for thirty years and is currently an editor for Orbis Books. He is also the contributing editor in books at SpiritualityandPractice.com. He has three grown children and lives in Milwaukee with his wife and their youngest daughter.

Our spiritual work is important. However it can be easy to lose sight of caring for ourselves in the midst of its demands. We must learn that it is okay to feel scared and vulnerable because we can help others by starting from our own vulnerability.
Jon will look at this using examples from the life of Francis of Assisi.
