One of the distinctive characteristics of the Franciscan tradition is its narrative quality. Like Jesus in the gospels who preached parables and told stories to illustrate the mission and ministry of God’s reign, the Franciscan theological and spiritual heritage is a story-telling tradition that draws on narrative, setting, and characters to convey the depth and breadth of its charism.
This day of reflection focuses on the significance of narrative in expressing and passing on the Franciscan spiritual tradition, which requires a robust theology of imagination, while also examining how we can not only tell the Franciscan story eight-hundred-years after the death of St. Francis of Assisi, but also embody it to respond to the urgent challenges of our time in a constructive spirit of justice, peace, and integrity of creation.
The day will be held in person at The Meditatio Centre and also online.
